New Young Brother

Cars are often refered to in the feminine tense, but I'm not sure you can really call the new Honda Civic Type R FD2 Sports Saloon a she! So for our purposes we'll call it the DC5's new baby brother!

Designed to be the ultimate Type R in Japan, the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) Honda Civic FD2 supersedes the Integra DC5 Type R Coupe as Honda's Flagship performance road racer.

With factory modifications to the 2.0 V-Tec K20A engine, including: 'Drive by Wire', re-surfacing head ports as well as tuning inlet and exhaust ports the output is now up to 225 bhp with 215 Nm of torque at a lazy for a V-Tec 6100 rpm.

The real trick though is in the handling, much improved by utilising the light weight saloon body shell's rigidity and then hanging exclusive to FD2 Type R suspension and specially tuned ABS / EBD system. One over the UK Type R, the rear suspension is now upgraded to a Double Wishbone configuration.

Power is transferred via a six speed close ratio gearbox, with short shift throw, through the now ubiquitous to JDM Type R Limited Slip Differential.

There's more information about the specification here and I'll update as more technical information comes into our domain.
